University of Utah Seismograph Stations

The University of Utah Seismograph Stations reports that a minor earthquake of magnitude 2.9 occurred at 09:50 PM on January 10, 2023 (MST). The epicenter of the shock was located 8.2 miles south southeast of Morgan, UT and felt locally. A total of six magnitude 3.0 or greater earthquakes have occurred within 15 miles of the epicenter of this event since 1962. The largest of these events was a magnitude 3.4 on December 20, 2006, 8.3 miles north northeast of Morgan, UT.
This event was preceded by a magnitude 2.5 earthquake that occurred at 07:51 PM about 4 miles south southeast of the M2.9 event, below East Canyon Resort in Morgan County.
