M 3.9 near Norris Geyser Basin, Yellowstone National Park

The University of Utah Seismograph Stations reports that a minor earthquake of magnitude 3.9 occurred at 06:55 AM on September 18, 2022 (MDT). The epicenter of the shock was located about 6.5 mi NW of Norris Geyser Basin, WY.  A total of 168 earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater have occurred within 16 mi of the epicenter of this event since 1962.  The largest of these events was a magnitude 4.8 on March 30, 2014, 2.8 mi N of Norris Junction, WY.  

The earthquake was reported felt within Yellowstone National Park and the surrounding communities.
