M 3.2 near Hyde Park, UT

The University of Utah Seismograph Stations reports that a minor earthquake of magnitude 3.2 occurred at 02:44 PM on January 03, 2023 (MST).  The epicenter of the shock was located 4 mi W of Hyde Park, UT.  A total of 15 earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater have occurred within 16 mi of the epicenter of this event since 1962.  The largest of these events was a magnitude 4.1 on October 18, 1964, 4.7 mi ENE of Providence, UT. 

This earthquake is part of a sequence of eight earthquakes that have occurred in the area beginning with an M 2.3 on January 1, 2023. These events have magnitudes from M 1.8 to 3.2 and have been widely felt throughout Cache Valley.
