The University of Utah Seismograph Stations reports that an earthquake of magnitude 2.9 occurred at 8:57 PM on January 30, 2023 (MST).  The epicenter of the shock was located about 9 mi W of Brigham City, UT.  More than 20 people reportedly felt this event.  

This event is part of an ongoing sequence of 11 earthquakes in the area over the last week. Two of these also have felt reports (M 2.9 Jan 28 and M 2.8 Jan 24). On Nov. 12 an M 3.6 in the same area was widely felt. Fifty-four earthquakes have occurred in this area since the Nov. 12, 2022 M3.6 event.

A total of 11 earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater have occurred within 16 mi of the epicenter of this event since 1962.  One earthquake of magnitude 4.5 or greater has occurred within 32 mi of the epicenter of this event since 1962.  This was a magnitude 4.5 on July 05, 1989, 11.4 mi WSW of Tremonton, UT.

M 2.9 near Morgan, UT

Released: January 11, 2023 09:00 AM MST

The University of Utah Seismograph Stations reports that a minor earthquake of magnitude 2.9 occurred at 09:50 PM on January 10, 2023 (MST).  The epicenter of the shock was located 8.2 miles south southeast of Morgan, UT and felt locally.   A total of six magnitude 3.0 or greater earthquakes have occurred within 15 miles of the epicenter of this event since 1962.  The largest of these events was a magnitude 3.4 on December 20, 2006, 8.3 miles north northeast of Morgan, UT.  

This event was preceded by a magnitude 2.5 earthquake that occurred at 07:51 PM about 4 miles south southeast of the M2.9 event, below East Canyon Resort in Morgan County.

M 3.2 near Hyde Park, UT

The University of Utah Seismograph Stations reports that a minor earthquake of magnitude 3.2 occurred at 02:44 PM on January 03, 2023 (MST).  The epicenter of the shock was located 4 mi W of Hyde Park, UT.  A total of 15 earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater have occurred within 16 mi of the epicenter of this event since 1962.  The largest of these events was a magnitude 4.1 on October 18, 1964, 4.7 mi ENE of Providence, UT. 

This earthquake is part of a sequence of eight earthquakes that have occurred in the area beginning with an M 2.3 on January 1, 2023. These events have magnitudes from M 1.8 to 3.2 and have been widely felt throughout Cache Valley.

The University of Utah Seismograph Stations reports that an earthquake of magnitude 2.9 occurred at 10:50 PM on January 02, 2023 (MST).  The epicenter of the shock was located 5 mi west of Hyde Park, UT.  Over 70 people in the Cache Valley reported that they felt this earthquake.  A total of 14 earthquakes of magnitude 3 or greater have occurred within 16 mi of the epicenter of this event since 1962.  The largest of these events was a magnitude 4.1 on October 18, 1964, 4.7 mi east-north-east of Providence, UT.

The University of Utah Seismograph Stations reports that an earthquake of magnitude 2.6 occurred at 06:37 AM on January 02, 2023 (MST).  The epicenter of the shock was located 6.8 mi W of Hyde Park, UT.  Over 30 people in the Cache Valley reported that they felt this earthquake.  A total of 13 earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater have occurred within 16 mi of the epicenter of this event since 1962.  The largest of these events was a magnitude 4.1 on October 18, 1964, 4.7 mi ENE of Providence, UT.
