The University of Utah Seismograph Stations reports that a light earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred at 6:56 PM on June 28, 2014 (MDT). The epicenter of the shock was located on the northwest edge of the Wasatch Plateau, 7 mi south of Mount Pleasant, UT, and 10 miles northeast of Ephraim, UT. The earthquake was reported felt in both of these towns and in other places in the Sanpete Valley. Six small aftershocks were recorded during the first hour following this earthquakes, with largest being a magnitude 2.7 event at 7:01 PM MDT.
Anyone who felt the earthquake is encouraged to fill out a survey form either on the Seismograph Stations web site: www.quake.utah.edu or the US Geological Survey website: earthquake.usgs.gov.
